Prediction for the Future Media

As no one can sure whether these predictions will happen in reality, and only time will tell the accuracy of them, I want to introduce some predictions for the future media.

1.If It’s Not Mobile, It Won’t Exist – Jason Falls, Strategist of Digital Marketing

We’ll simply have universal docking stations at work and at home — or even better, in public places, Starbucks, airports, etc. — instead of having laptops or desktops but we won’t plug in our laptops. We’ll plug in our smart phones. They will be our hard drives. They will be our entire computers. Software companies are already learning if they aren’t mobile-enabled, they’ve lost half the battle. That will only become magnified as smart phones become more ubiquitous.

2.Mind Reading – Mike Laurie, Digital Planner at UK Integrated Agency JPMH

Consider the ability to tweet what you’re thinking without having to pull your phone out of your pocket, type your message and hit send. Imagine being able to think ‘Facebook’ and your screen presents you with an overview of your friend’s activity stream. This method of interaction is at a very experimental stage but there are proofs-of-concept that exist. Most of this kind of innovation is currently intended to help people with limited motor skills, and not lazy social media addicts, however.

3.Voice Recognition – Matthew, RGB Social

Due to limited inputs on wearable devices, voice recognition and dictation will have heightened utility versus more traditional screen-based devices. Because of this, an entirely new wave of social media platforms and applications will be developed for voice (think Twitter-Heytell hybrids, voice search, or Siri).

4.I think you’ll be able to share a taste, a sensation and a smell. I think a shared consciousness and a version of telepathic communication is all very likely. Imagine shopping an e-commerce store with a friend, virtually trying things on your avatar that’s representative of your likeness and conversing in real time with that friend, all while on the go in different places.

.We’re already seeing increased personalization, more individual-to-individual communication, more humanlike algorithms and more specified, diverse social platforms. I think those trends will continue in the future. I see more of a divide happening between socializing and publishing via social media, and platforms like Facebook that merge the two will probably need to pick a lane and change significantly.” – Piera Gelardi, Refinery 29, Creative Director

5.”All I do all week is look at my phone, reading articles, liking posts, sending emails/tweets/messages. In the future, I will “disconnect” by putting on Oculus virtual reality glasses when I get home—and suddenly I’ll be sitting courtside at the Knicks game with my Facebook friends. You can’t make it to the beach in Italy on Tuesday night after a hard day of work, but you can achieve a very similar emotional effect of being there via Oculus glasses while on your terrace with a glass of wine. VR helps you disconnect by putting you in a new, fully immersive world, and it will transform every industry—concerts, sporting events, education, tourism, travel, business meetings, doctor appointments and more.”- Jason Stein, Laundry Service Founder & President
